An Ode to Netflix

For years I have gone back and forth about whether I should get Netflx. Since I had an Apple TV I didn’t see the need. My friends kept extolling the virtues of Netflix, but yet I dragged my feet. Why? No clue to tell you the truth. Like moving to an eReader, I kept looking into getting Netflix, but would discount all the reasons I had come up with. Finally I have decided to bite the bullet.

Since you get a free month to check it out, I decided to give it a try. I could always cancel it if I decided it wasn’t for me. I’ve only had it for about 2 weeks, and I’m hooked! Not only can I see all the movies that I’ve missed in the theater, but now I can watch all the television shows I have always water to check out.

My Netflix adventure has been a blast, and the fact that I can also watch on my Nook Tablet just makes having it even better. Since I’ve gotten my very own Netflix account I have been drawn into the world of Friday Night Lights.

This show is phenomenal, and I only wished I had watched when it was on air. Maybe it could have continued for another season. I love watching it on Netflix, because I can watch without having to buy all 5 seasons on DVD. Not that I won’t, but now I know I should. Paying my $8 / month is worth it when you consider it would cost me $2 an episode had I been downloading the episodes from iTunes or Amazon.

Besides Friday Night Lights, I’ve also begun to re-watch Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. I missed the last episodes of the final season, and have decided to watch from the beginning. I have yet to actually watch an episode on my Nook, so I don’t know how great that will be, but I’m sure I’ll let you know when I do.

Netflix has been wonderful for me since I no longer have a DVR, so I have watched a lot of tv on the Internet this season. Now, I can watch what I want when I’m in my home office working, and I love it! Besides, I’m sure all my friends are happy I have finally succumbed so I can stop asking them is it worth it. Thanks guys, it truly is.
