Book Review: Blood Promise – A Vampire Academy Novel

Posted February 18, 2012 by @Angelized_1st in Books, Entertainment / 0 Comments

Just finished reading Blood Promise, book 4 in the Vampire Academy Series. At first I found this one a little weird, then I realized it was because of the distance between Rose and Lissa. As the book progressed, I got more invested in the story. That also was a first. Normally I get sucked in right away.

Like all the earlier books in the series, Blood Promise does an excellent job of setting up the next book, Spirit Bound. Now that Rose and Lissa are reunited, I cannot wait to find out how they solve the problems created for/by them in Blood Promise.

Despite having Spirit Bound already loaded on my Nook, I’m going to take a breather and read The Lying Game since the library finally emailed me my copy. I haven’t really watched the television series of the same name on ABC Family, but the premise interests me. I guess I’ll let you know whether I like it enough to read the entire series.

For those of you who are in the dark about The Lying Game, it’s written by Pretty Little Liars author, Sara Shepard. Here is a brief synopsis of the first book:

I had a life anyone would kill for. Then someone did.

I may not remember much, but I know I led a charmed life. Even in death I’m getting something no one else does: an encore performance, thanks to Emma, the long-lost twin sister I never got to meet. Now, in order to figure out what happened to me, Emma needs to become me. But can she laugh at inside jokes with my best friends? Convince my boyfriend she’s the girl he fell in love with? Hug my parents good night like she’s their daughter? And can she keep up the charade even after she realizes my murderer is watching her every move?

Let the lying game begin.

Since I am on a break from work, I will probably begin to rip through the next several books faster than one a week. We’ll see! If so, then I also plan to re-read The Hunger Games in anticipation of the film before I get back to the VA.

So Vampire Academy fans, what did you think about Blood Promise? Have any of you read The Lying Game, or watch the show? Is it worth my time? Sound off in the comments below!
