The war is over!
Barnes & Noble and DC Comics have finally settled their dispute. It began in late 2011 after DC Comics gave Amazon the exclusive rights to 100 of their best-selling books for the Kindle Fire. B&N’s response? Pulling all physical titles from their bookstores nationwide. But now, comic book fans, the feud is over.
B&N and DC Comics have just made an agreement that will allow the retailer the ability to the digital content they’ve hungered for. Starting last week, DC’s full line of graphic novels became available for Barnes & Noble’s Nook Color and Nook Tablet. Customers can also download the titles through the Nook for Android apps on their phones. Many titles are now available, like Dave Gibbon’s Watchmen, and Frank Miller’s Batman.
The DC titles have Zoomview, which allows for easier reading by displaying the comic one frame at a time. Having previously read a comic in PDF format, I must say I am happy they have added this feature. Yesterday, I bought a Batman title, The Dark Knight Returns, for my Nook Tablet. I will let you know if this Zoomview really does improve the reading experience. Most of the available titles are priced at $9.99. For more information about DC Comics on Nook, be sure to check out B&N’s comic page. If you are more of a Marvel or Dark Horse fan, then you’ll also be happy to know that both companies have also added to their available digital content.
