The 3rd season finale of The Walking Dead was a major turning point in the series. Besides losing another character that’s been around since the beginning, we also got to see one of our own become hardened to their new reality. As always the body count was high, and unfortunately many of the deceased were decent people who never should have lost their lives, while the evil Governor lives on.
It’s Better to Be Feared Than Loved… Just when you thought the Governor couldn’t become more evil, he decides to prove everyone wrong. The episode kicks off with the Governor beating the snot out of Milton for the betrayal his friend committed when he set fire to the Biters the Governor was planning to use to kill the people at the prison. When Milton asked the Governor what he thought Penny would think about the man he’s become now the Governor replied, “She’d be afraid of me, but if I had been like this from the start she’d be alive today.” That statement was foreshadowing to how psychotic Phillip has become. So why I was surprised when he killed his own people after their failed attack on the prison is beyond me. Especially since he had already stabbed Milton and left him to turn so that Milton would eat Andrea. I guess after all this time I can’t believe someone would be so evil. Where he, Martinez, and the other guy are going is a mystery, but you can bet we’ll be seeing them again. (More…)
