“If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”

Game of Thrones 3x06 - The Climb 3I can’t believe season 3 of Game of Thrones is almost over. Seems like it just began. This week it seemed like everyone was on the move. While the Stark children (save Rob and Sansa) are all trying to make their way to see their brother Jon Snow at Castle Black, Jon is actually climbing the Wall with the Wildlings. As Theon Greyjoy continues to be tortured by Ramsey Bolton at Deepwood Mott, Tyrion and Cersei are being tortured with the prospect of marrying against their wishes. At Harrenhal, Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth discover that while Jaime is to be sent to his family in King’s Landing, Brienne is charged with abetting treason and will remain there. “The Climb” showed what can happen when people form strange alliances with those who are thought to be their enemy. Some of these alliances look more promising than others, but all hang by the most tenuous thread. As we head into the final four episodes of the season, it won’t be long before we find out which of these alliances bare fruit, and which rot on the vine.
