“You think it hurts to be dead? It’s living that hurts.”
This week’s episode of Falling Skies dealt with the human spirit. The survivors have survived an alien invasion, lost loved ones, and watched as their world changed forever. This week, they suffered more tragedy as the mole struck again and claimed more lives. After waiting all season long for the mole to be unmasked, the audience was finally awarded with the mole’s identity, but still had to wait for the characters to learn the secret. Episode 309 was the one we’ve been waiting for. When a newly returned Tom tried to warn the military of Karen’s location, he was rebuffed under suspicion of being infected with an eyeworm. This doubt gave Lourdes the opportunity she needed to try to crush the resistance once and for all.
The first thing Lourdes did was to blow up Cochise and his comrades. Once the Volm allies were out-of-the-way, Lourdes set a bomb that trapped much of the resistance’s command underground. With many dead, and the majority of those who survived her attacks injured, Lourdes tried to tie up loose ends by killing Cochise before he could regenerate. Everything was going according to plan until Lourdes slipped up and revealed she knew where Anne and Alexis died. Once Lourdes was captured, the trapped members of the resistance managed to use explosives to blow open a wall so they could escape to freedom. While they can’t bring back the dead, things didn’t look hopeless until Cochise revealed the weapon was trapped under the rubble, and his engineers were all deceased. (More…)
