Gabaldon-Voyager-220x332Last week I read Voyager- book #3 in Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling Outlander series. This novel continues the story of Claire Randall and her timeless love for Jamie Fraser. The third book finds Claire confronted with a major decision that will change her life forever no matter what she chooses to do. As Claire battles her heart, the reader also faces a battle within themselves, wondering what they would do if they were in her shoes. In the synopsis according to Goodreads:

RELATED | Book Review: Dragonfly in Amber – An Outlander Novel

Their passionate encounter happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her… and her body still cries out for him in her dreams.

Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning to him and staying with their daughter in her own era, Claire must choose her destiny. And as time and space come full circle, she must find the courage to face the passion and pain awaiting her…the deadly intrigues raging in a divided Scotland… and the daring voyage into the dark unknown that can reunite or forever doom her timeless love.

Since this is the third book in a continuing series I don’t want to go into too much detail beyond what is given in  the synopsis. What I will say is that as of now I believe this is my favorite book in the series thus far. Having read about Claire and Jamie’s burgeoning romance in Outlander and how it was torn apart in Dragonfly in Amber, I loved seeing how their relationship has changed over the course of twenty years. Being older people who have lived away from each other for a long period of time, these two lovers have to begin again, try to separate who each other was, and get acquainted with who each other are now. More importantly, it was wonderful to see how their love for one another hasn’t been diminished by time. I’m currently reading the fourth book in the series, Drums of Autumn, and can’t wait to see what adventures these two lovebirds go on next.
