"They'll Need Each Other to Survive..."
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can't believe Daemon stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything — even what they cherish most— to ensure the survival of their friends...and mankind.
War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.
At the end of the fourth book the Luxen not already living on Earth decided to invade and take over the planet. When they arrived, Daemon, Dawson, and Dee went off with their people, leaving Katy and the rest to fend for themselves. While Daemon and his siblings acted like pod people, Katy desperately tried to find a way to break the Luxen “spell” and get her man back. Not to mention her planet. In the fifth and final book of Jennifer Armentrout’s Lux Series, Katy and Daemon must deal with the invading Luxen and find their way back to one another.
“And that is why we can’t have nice things.”
Since the beginning of the series it was hinted that the Luxen might invade Earth, and when they did it was everything one could hope for. The invasion drew lines in the sand between the superior Luxen and everyone (humans, hybrids, Origins, and Arum) else. After four books of Katy/Daemon goodness, it almost seemed like these two would be divided over a race war, or the end of our world as we know it. Luckily, these two love birds love each other something fierce, and there were a few surprises in store for them and us.
“It’s like you have a special skill when it comes to finding condoms. Seriously. They must fall out of the sky whenever you’re around.”
Daemon and Katy’s separation was painful to read, but their reunion was anything but. The hotness from the previous books also popped up in the finale, and it made up for all the bad things that Katy and Daemon went through. Of course, they weren’t the only ones feeling the love. Dawson and Beth awaited the birth of their first-born, despite not knowing what would happen once the baby arrived. Dee finally met a new guy that made her heart pitter-patter, and some other relationships were revealed.
“Jesus. It’s like I’m a muggle to your pure-blood or something.”
Once again Armentrout included her knowledge of popular culture with her film, book and dance references. This made the LUX world feel like it was a part of our own, as the pop culture references are current. Aside from the pop references and factoids, Armentrout tied up the series nicely with the reader learning the fates of the main characters. She also set up a spin-off book, Obsession, which is a stand alone novel, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed will turn into its own series. Overall, Opposition was a fun, fantastic read. If you’re a fan of the LUX series, then you definitely need to keep reading to discover how it all ends.
