I’ve recently been nominated for a Liebster Award by the lovely Senseless Scrutiny. She runs a great book blog, and you should definitely check her out. The rules state that there is a list of tasks you must complete if you are nominated for an award. They are:
- Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
- Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
- Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
- Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
- Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 200 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)
- Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
- List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.)
- Find some way to inform those who you have nominated.
Now my tasks begin!
Here are the answer to the questions Senseless Scrutiny asked I answer upon accepting my nomination:
1.) If you had to pick a favorite novel, what would it be and why?
Wow, I have several favorite novels. If I were to pick one off the top of my head I’d pick Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. When I first read it, it was like nothing I’d ever read before. The characters are so rich, and the world Martin imagined is so detailed that it almost feels real. Like the story really happened some time in our actual past. It also was the first time – SPOILER ALERT!!– that I had read a novel where the hero dies horribly at the end.
2.) Who is your favorite classic author?
My favorite classic author would be William Shakespeare.
3.) Who is your favorite modern author?
My favorite modern author are George R. R. Martin and Diana Gabaldon.
4.) What is your earliest memory of a book?
My earliest memory of a book was reading a personalized copy of Snow White that my parents had made for me. It was a cardboard book for toddlers, but my name was put into the story as if I were a character. It filled me with wonder, and I read it over and over.
5.) What is your favorite sweet treat? Why?
My favorite sweet treat… it changes depending on type. For instance, my favorite cookie is Oreo. My favorite chocolate treat are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. My favorite candy is gummy worms. My favorite licorice is Twizzlers Sweet and Sour Twists. I could go on and on. However, if I could pick one it would be Reese’s, because I go crazy for chocolate and peanut butter.
6.) What is/was your best subject in school?
My best subject in school was English literature, but my favorite was writing.
7.) What was your first favorite TV show?
My first favorite TV show, as in “Must-See TV,” was “The X-Files.”
8.) Where were you born? What was your favorite part about that place?
I was born in Michigan. My favorite part about that place was lying in bed with my mom watching movies on a Saturday.
9.) What’s your favorite genre of music?
This changes with the years, but I’d probably say Classic Rock.
10.) What is your most embarrassing memory of yourself?
Probably some drunken disaster event.
11.) What is your biggest fear?
Sharks and snakes. No real reason behind it.
11 Random Things About Me:
1.) My favorite color is red. It makes me happy and feel pretty. I try to buy things in red whenever possible. Especially clothing. I’ve own about 4 pairs of red suede shoes in my life, however, I’ve never owned a red purse.
2.) I’ve participated in the Los Angeles Marathon. I walked/ran the race. Mostly walked.
3.) In 2000, I studied in Italy for a month. I needed two credits to graduate university, and my school decided not to offer any classes in my major the spring I graduated. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
4.) I saw Radiohead in concert in Florence, Italy.
5.) I have 11 piercings and 4 tattoos. They tend to shock people, because I tend to dress pretty preppy.
6.) If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Florence, Italy. It’s so beautiful, and I fell in love with it when I visited there. In fact, I’m hoping to die there. I would also like to live in New York City at least once in my life.
7.) My favorite season is summer. I have a valid excuse not to wear shoes, the sun in beautiful, and the flowers look so pretty. Being in California, it’s also a great time to go to the beach and people watch.
8.) My favorite time of the day is the morning, because everything feels full of possibilities. No matter what happened the day before, you can start over new.
9.) I don’t use the phone. For some reason, I find I hate talking on it. I’d rather talk to someone in person. Besides, I’m always busy doing something, so if I need to contact someone I usually text. It’s very antisocial, I know, but I just hate the act of holding the phone to my head. If you call me, I’ll talk, but I will forget to reciprocate.
10.) I can’t remember anyone’s birthdays. I don’t know why, but I just can’t. Never have been able to. (Thank you, Facebook for making it easier.) Actually, I can’t retain dates period. Having to provide dates for exams is what caused me to hate history. I can read them over and over using flashcards. Read about them… Ugh! I hate it, because it give people the impression I don’t care about them.
11.) I’m an avid daydreamer. However, I still am capable of keeping track on what’s happening around me when I’m zoned out. I love my daydreams, because they keep my imagination alive, and allow me to power down for micro naps. I hate them, because I fear I’ll dream my life away.
And the Award Goes To…
2.) Alexa Loves Books – Another great blog. Alexa co-hosts the 2015 Flights of Fantasy Reading Challenge. Not sure about her follower count, but she deserve the award.
3.) Stephanie’s Book Reviews – Stephanie writes great reviews, as well as post quotes, and the occasional meme.
4.) A Flurry of Ponderings – I recently discovered this fantastic blog, and think you should, too!
I wish I could nominate more, but most of the blogs I follow have loads of followers, so I have to stop at four. As stated I will inform all the bloggers I’ve nominated. Congratulations to the nominees!
Here are my questions for them if they should accept the nomination:
