The Week in Review: “Road Trippin’ to the Bay” (June 7th – June 13th)

bg-flowerWIRStacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This meme gives bloggers a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or received for review each week. I also decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This past week has been good in terms of reading and posting, but as I began getting ready for my trip to northern California for my niece’s graduation, I hit the pause button on reading. Kind of sad, because Ready Player One is such a great book. June is a bit busy for me from this point on, so my posting may be spotty. After I return to Los Angeles Monday, I have to go to San Diego for my own graduation. I finished my Masters degree earlier this year, and will be walking. Then, next week I travel to beautiful Hawaii to spend time with my mom and get another nice vacation. I have some ARCs, and lots of new books that I plan to tell you about, and I hope to take great photos so stay posted!

Hanging on “The Farm”

Last night my niece graduated from Standford University, and we attended one of her graduation ceremonies. It was a wonderful event, and was great to see all of these young people graduating with degrees in the sciences and engineering. There were other majors, of course, but the sciences are mostly populated with men, so to see the amount of young women going into the field was fantastic. Sadly, I never bought a flash for my Nikon, and my photos came out only o.k. 🙁

I really need to read Ready Player One as so many people have loved it so much! It sounds like a fun read but I just have never picked it up from the library yet. It sounds like you have a busy month ahead of you. Congrats on getting your masters!! That is quite the accomplishment. Hope you have a great week 🙂

Thanks a lot! You should definitely pick RPO up. Especially now that it’s being adapted into a movie. Honestly, I’m a little scared about how it will translate to the screen, but I’m putting my faith in Spielberg that he’ll do it justice.

Still have the Luxe series in my tbr pile. The covers are awesome. Have a happy graduation. Been meaning to re-read Ready Player One too.

Aren’t they? That’s what drew me to them. I’m a sucker for beautiful cover art. In fact, that’s why I still buy physical books. It’s the deciding factor on whether to buy a book on my iPad or from an actual store. This didn’t happen here, though. iBooks had a deal that allowed me to buy the entire series in electronic form for much cheaper than if I had bought them from the books store.

  3. Congratulations on your masters! That is fabulous! And oh my goodness, Hawaii! I am basically filled will jealousy 🙂 You will have such an amazing time, I am sure! And definitely take LOTS of pictures so that we can live vicariously 😉 Hope you have a wonderful week, and enjoy the books!

Thank you so much! I will definitely take pictures 🙂 It’s been ages since I’ve been there, and I’m really excited. Plus, I get to spend time with my mom. We live in different states, so it’s always great when we can spend time together. Have a great week!
