The Week in Review: “Dancing Queen” (July 12th – July 18th)

bg-flowerWIRStacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This meme gives bloggers a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or received for review each week. I also decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I’ve picked up some very good books this past week, and have been up into the wee hours of the morning flipping the pages. Again. I’ve been better about fitting my fitness in this week. Two days at the gym pounding it n the treadmill and elliptical. I’ve also been practicing to participate in National Dance Day, which is Saturday, July 25th. So far I’ve learned both routines, so we’ll see how it goes! I promise not to chicken out this year.

Reading Challenge Update

I reached my original goal in the 2015 Goodreads Reading Challenge, which was to read 80 books this year. I have now increased my goal to 100 books. Last year I fell short of this goal by 2 books 🙁 I’ve also decided to join Wishful Ending’s Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon challenge which runs from September 14th to the 27th. This will help me tackle all of the books I have stocked on my kindle and ipad. That, and the fact I have sworn to stop buying books after this month until I can read all the books I’ve already purchased. I’m hoping this will help me purge, but also save money for my trip to Japan next year. Pray for me to have the sill to abstain.

Side note: I’ve moved my reading challenge progress from the blog’s sidebar to the reading challenge menu. I did this so I can accommodate blog tour, giveaway banners, and advertisements on the sidebar without it running super long past the posts. I hate that! Sorry for any confusion 😉

  1. A busy week on the blog last week and another this week by the looks of your list!

I haven’t read We Were Liars but have heard great things. I hope you enjoy it!

    • @Angelized_1st

It does! I can’t wait to see it! I keep re-watching the trailer. I don’t think I’ve been this excited for a movie is a long time.

    • @Angelized_1st

You did? Good! I’ve heard lots of great things about the book, but the more I hear, the more excited I get to read it. I think I underestimated myself when I signed up for some challenges, and over estimated myself in others. I’ve taken a beating on my Classics and Banned book challenges. Luckily, The Color Purple will count for the banned. I keep saying I’ll cut back on the fantasy, but apparently that’s where my heart lies. LOL! Have a great week!

  2. All the trailers that came out was really good. I hope you love all your new books this book. The Walking Dead Trailer and The Suicide Squad looks amazing.

So far, so good on the book front. I’ve finished Queen of Someday, and only have 50 pages of Garrett left. I’m going to finish that today, I think. I’m really excite for both TWD and SS. You’re right! The trailers are amazing! I get chills from watching them. *squee*

I just finished Queen of Someday this morning. So good! Can’t wait to read the next book. I hope to start it tonight, but there’s so much good tv on we’ll see. Have a great week!

Thanks for your support. I practice for the flash mob every year, and every year I chicken out. This will be my year! *trumpets blast* LOL, I hope to get some good pics while I’m there. If I do, I’ll definitely share them in next week’s post. OMG, I miss my TWD gang! I can’t wait to see Fear the Walking Dead this August. That should tie us over until TWD returns in October. Do you plan to watch the spin-off?

    • @Angelized_1st

      Thanks! I most definitely will!

I’ve heard many great things about the book. I hope to read it next month after I finish reading the ARCs I have. They all come out the first half of August, so I can’t put it off anymore. Actually, I think August will be my bookshelf/iPad purge month. The Suicide Squad was on of those films I wasn’t too sure wold be good. Mostly because I’ve been on Marvel’s teet. Ha! But now that I’ve seen the new Superman vs Batman trailer and The Suicide Squad, I’m overly geeked at what DC is doing. They’re definitely stepping up their game, and it’s about time!
