Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This meme gives bloggers a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or received for review each week. I also decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Life Outside the ‘Net
This past week was my second week back to work. I have a challenging class this year that I’m going to have to whip into shape, I’m still plugging away at my workouts/training, and on top of everything I developed a head cold. UGH! Add to that a little PMS, and saying I was exhausted was an understatement. Honestly, I can’t remember a time when I passed out before 9:30 pm every night. What did this mean? I hardly got as much done blogwise as I wanted, and missed interacting with my fellow bloggers this week. With a gang of stuff coming up on the blog in September and October, I may have bitten off more than I can chew if this exhaustion becomes the new norm. I only read 2 books last week, and have a list of ARCs I need to finish before their releases in the next few weeks. Hopefully, once my cold clears up I’ll get my energy back.
Despite my exhaustion, I still did my weekly workouts, and ran four miles with my running club on Saturday. I’ve concluded based on my aching heel that it’s time to purchase new running shoes. Why am I surprised a new unexpected expense has popped up? ‘Tis life! Next week I’ll miss my 5 mile run, as I’ll be on my family’s annual camping trip over the long Labor Day weekend. Still, I will get my mid-week workout on so I’ll be ready for the 7-miler the Saturday after I get back home. If I buy new shoes today, that will give me the time I need to break them in before that killer run.
In other news, this is the month I’ll know if I can run in the Long Beach Half-Marathon, and plan to register. Also, this week the Los Angeles Marathon opens registration on September 1st. I probably won’t register until after I do Long Beach. Then again, I want to do it before they raise the price, so…
Camping or Lamping?
So every Labor Day weekend I go camping with my aunts and uncles out in the desert. Not really the desert, but if you saw it you’d call it the desert, too. Basically, we sit in an air-conditioned trailer watching sports, playing dominoes, and listening to music by day, while hitting the casinos at night. I’m not much of a gambler, so I usually play the slots for a spell, and then read in the bar with an ice-cold beer. I’m hoping this will allow me to get loads of reading done, so I’ll be able to participate in Wishful Ending’s Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon as planned. *fingers crossed*
Domo arigato misuta Robotto?
This week I begin taking Japanese in the hope I will be traveling to Japan next June as planned. I still haven’t bought my ticket, and need to tighten my spending belt if I’m going to be able to go, so everything is still tentative. Damn you, running shoes! Still, that doesn’t mean I can’t learn a few useful phrases beforehand so I can get around more smoothly. I’ve taken an informal class a few years ago. I didn’t learn much, though, but enough that I actually know what the song lyrics above mean without Google translator. Did I mention I may have bitten off more than I can chew? I guess this will be the week I find out ;(
How was your week? Anything exciting happen?
