The Week in Review: “Last Days of Vacation” (August 9th – August 15th)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This meme gives bloggers a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or received for review each week. I also decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Life Outside the ‘Net

This week was my last week of vacation, but instead of squeezing every bit of joy out of it I could, I decided to go in to work, and set up my classroom. I know I’m going to think myself for this later. I also had a couple of professional developments, so… cha-ching! Aside from getting read for the school year, I also began training for the Los Angeles Marathon. I’m not definitely going to do it, as last time it was brutal, but I’m setting the goal. After six days of working out, and preparing my classroom I am sore. Like they say, “No pain, no gain!”

In bookish news, this past week was crazy here at I Was Angelized_1st, but things will slow down a tad as I return to work. Maybe even more so as I go to school at the end of the month to start learning Japanese. I just won’t have the time to devour books as I did this summer. Never fear! The blog won’t die. So stay tuned!

Bookish Swag

I found this online on Society 6, and fell head over heels in love. How could I not? Khaleesi!! Hopefully this will make the Game of Thrones hell-atus (hellish hiatus for non-tv talkers) bearable. Not sure what I’ll use it for as I need a new bag like a hole in the head, but…. Khaleesi!! Sorry! I think the wait for George R. R. Martin to release Winds of Winter is driving me insane. Khaleesi!

Well, we’ll see if I bit off more than I can chew. City of Roses does seem interesting. I’ve been discovering a lot of new authors this summer, and Donovan Pruitt will be one of them. Thanks for stopping by!

I hadn’t either, but they all sounded intersting. The Pretty Smart Girls book is the first book in a series. I had an ARC of the second book, and reviewed it a couple of weeks ago. I liked it enough that I was going to by this one, but when the author asked me if I wanted it I was overjoyed. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week 😉

The Los Angeles marathon, wow, I’m so proud of you (and a bit envious) – go girl !!! That bag is beautiful, nice catch 🙂

Thanks! I need the support. It’s been three years since I last did it, and I’m a lot out of shape, but it’s important to have goals. I love this bag! I haven’t used it yet, but I can’t stop looking at it. Have a great week!

You’re absolutely right! School started this week, and the preparation made everything loads better. I can’t wait to read the new books. Now that I’m back to work, I’m trying to get to them quickly so I can schedule posts. That way I don’t feel so bombarded.

      You’re welcome!

  2. Oooh, good luck with your marathon! I don’t think I would ever attempt one myself, although I started running about a year ago and found out I actually enjoyed it (I used to hate having to run in PE, my teacher never taught us the first thing about it, it was just “do it in x amount of time or you get a zero”).

I’m a long distance walker trying to become a runner. LOL! I’m really motivated right now, and hopefully I don’t let the holidays sidetrack me. Thanks for your support 🙂
