Reading Challenges: Tackle Your TBR Read-a-Thon

Tackle+Your+TBR+2015

Tressa @ Wishful Endings is hosting the 2015 Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon. This challenge is to help readers make their way through their ever frustrating TBR piles. Readers have two weeks to read their way through their list, and can read pretty much anything they like. I for one will be concentrating on reading ARCs I need to get done for my upcoming Blog Tour appearances, and I’ll sneak in a few of the books that have been languishing on either my bookshelves or iPad for way too long. I know what ARCs I have to read, but the other books are pretty much up in the air. This is a great idea, and I’m excited to join in on the fun! The only downside? Sherry D. Ficklin’s Queen of Always comes out this Tuesday, and as it doesn’t fit this challenge, I’ll have to wait to read it until the 28th ;( With work and school there’s just no way I can fit it in.

eARCs

I’m planning to read at least five of my eARCs for this challenge. This will help me greatly so I won’t feel as bogged down next month. The six on my list are:

  • The Summer Marked by Rebekah L. Purdy
    • I’ve already begun this one, and it’s pretty good so far. (Finished)
  • The Assassin (Mortal Beloved #2) by Pamela DuMond
  • Omega by Lizzie Ford
  • Shifter: City of Wolves by Avery Burch
  • Sing Your Heart Out by Crystal Kaswell

Other: Physical or eBook

There’s no way in Hades I actually plan to read all of these books, but they’ve been on my eReader or shelf for way too long. The Messenger was sent to me at request since I’m reviewing the sequel, The Assassin. Pretty Smart Girls was also sent to me, this time by the author, who liked my review of the sequel, Fearless. I’ve been feeling bad that I haven’t gotten to it sooner. The Blackthorn Key was sent to me this past spring by Scholastic since I’ve ordered so many books with my students over the course of the last school year. I guess it’s an ARC, but I never promised to review it. As for the rest, they’ve been a long time coming, and I plan to read at least two of them during this challenge. Which one? No clue! I’ll decide by Tuesday.

  • The Messenger (Mortal Beloved #1) by Pamela DuMond (Finished)
  • Pretty Smart Girls: Lace Up by Shae Ross (Finished)
  • Red Rising (Red Rising Trilogy) by Pierce Brown
  • Every Day by David Levithan
  • The Selection by Kiera Cass
  • The Angel of Darkness (Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, #2) by Caleb Carr
  • Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson
  • Breaking the Bachelor (A Smart Cupid Story) by Maggie Kelley
  • The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1) by Stephen King
  • Beautiful Redemption (Beautiful Creatures #4) by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
  • The Blackthorn Key by Kevin Sands

Goal

I plan to read at least 5 of my ARCs and at least 2 of my other books, totaling me out to 7 books for this challenge. Honestly, I doubt I’ll reach this goal, but I rather aim high and fall short, than shoot low and fall even shorter.

Have you joined the challenge yet? If so, what books are you planning to read? Sound off in the comments below, and happy reading!

Looks good to me, I can recommend Treasure Island – and I think I have Red Rising in my pile, too!

    • @Angelized_1st

Thanks! I’ve heard Treasure Island is pretty good. I’ve been wanting to read it ever since I became hooked on Black Sails on Starz.

  2. Good luck on your challenge. You’re braver than I am…hehe! I didn’t really make any specific goals other than to read and visit as many sites as I could :).

    • @Angelized_1st

I want to visit more blogs as well. I’ve been pretty lax the last couple of weeks. Good luck to you, too!

The nice thing about having a large TBR pile is that you can read whatever your next whim is. You’ve got quite the variety to choose from here! I’m working on a shorter list for this challenge, but still like being able to hop around to the different books depending on my mood.

Very good point! I have been growing through my pile, and even found some books I forgot I bought. It was a pleasant surprise.

I’ve read two of them already, and am now on my third book. I’m going to try to finish it tonight. Mostly ARCs, and I’m behind the 8-ball with getting them done in time for my upcoming blog tour stops. Yikes!
