He'll rev her up and drive her to the edge...
Rusty West swore she was done with men. Instead, she channeled her passion into West Restoration, the car shop she runs with her best friend and sister. But Rusty's aloof composure fades when the owner of the competition comes striding into her shop, over six feet of sexy, rough-edged confidence...hot enough to send Rusty's motor into overdrive.
Reid Parker worked his ass off to get what he wants - and what he wants is West Restoration and its crew. He never expected to find a shop of all-female mechanics...or the stunning redhead who ignites a lust that threatens his cool. But Reid plays carefully. He never, ever gets involved with a woman beyond one night.
And no matter how hot the sparks, Rusty will never compromise her business for a man...
Revved is the second book in Sherilee Gray’s The Axle Alley Vipers series about three tough, female mechanics who run their own custom automotive shop in Miami. In this story, Rust West finally meets the man behind their biggest competitor, R.I.P. Restoration, Reid Parker. Reid has begun noticing his clients are getting poached, and decides to stop by West Restoration to size up his competition. When he sees the work Rusty is capable of doing, Reid begins to have designs on acquiring their custom shop.
I’d never read the first book in the series, Crashed, but Gray made it easy to get into the story without having done so. The characters hadn’t met in the first novel, so I never worried about missing out on previous events between the two. The chemistry between Reid and Rust was hot from the very first scene, so I got invested right away. Not only did I like them as a couple, but I also loved them as individual characters. Both Reid and Rust were very well-developed, and I hope to learn more about them in the third installment.
The only real criticism I have of this book is that I didn’t like how the climax happened in the last 10% of the book. It just felt as if those events should have happened earlier in the story. The odd placement sort of made the ending of the book feel abrupt, and like something else was missing from the story.
Do I Recommend?
I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a book featuring not one, but three strong female characters. Rusty, her sister Piper, and their friend Alex are tough chicks working in a male dominated field. Though they’re no pushovers, they still manage to be tough and soft all at the same time. Reid and Rust’s relationship was one of mutual respect. While Reid “wore the pants” in the relationship, Reid also would do anything to please his woman. Revved was a great romantic page-turner that will keep you glued to the page as soon as you open the book.
