A new adult romance from Entangled's Embrace imprint...
To gain a chance at heaven, they’ll need to embrace hell…
Descended from Cain, the world's first murderer, Jax Flynn is destined to spend his life making others suffer. To shield the world from horrific chaos, he was forced to sacrifice the one and only thing he loved. Samantha Merrick.
Sam is special. She doesn't know how—or why—and she hasn't had any luck finding out. But there's a bright side to her life. She finally has Jax back. Sort of. They're living life on a strict look but don't touch policy, but with the explosive chemistry between them, keeping their hands to themselves is getting harder every day.
Unfortunately, keeping their libidos in check isn’t Jax and Sam's biggest problem. When an enemy from the past resurfaces with an ultimatum—complete a simple task or Sam dies—they're backed into a corner. The goal? Kill a demon called Malphi. The problem? Jax's demon, Azirak, has no intention of letting that happen…
“To gain a chance at heaven, they’ll need to embrace hell…”
Embraced is the follow-up to Jus Accord’s Ruined. Her Eternal Balance series centers around a demon possessed guy named Jax. Jax, and his twin brother, are descendant from Cain and Able. Thanks to Cain becoming the world’s first murder by slaying his brother Abel, cursing all of those with their blood for eternity. Jax was gone from home for the sake of protecting his brother, and the girl he loves, Samantha, from his dark desires, but tragedy forces Jax to return to his hometown.
In Embraced, Jax and Sam are trying to put their lives back together following the events in the first book. Despite time separating them, the attraction between them still remains red-hot. However, they’re supposed to keep their hand off each other, or else. Why? It would spoil the first book to tell you, but the ‘hands-off’ policy is hard to adhere to. Jax and Sam make a great couple, so seeing them being kept apart is torture. Especially since readers get treated to several juicy scenes between them. Jax and Sam grew up together, and have stood beside each other through tough times. They have more than love, but also possess a deep, abiding friendship.
While Ruined wrapped up nicely, the threads for a sequel left me wanting to know more, and Embraced was the same. The pace of the plot was steady from beginning to end, and the various twists and turns of the story continually kept me guessing. Technically someone could pick up Embraced without having read the first novel, but I think readers would benefit from reading them in order, as events in Embraced are connected to those of the previous novel.
Besides the normal demons and humans, Jus Accardo introduces readers to a new supernatural creature. The addition of which ups the stakes for Jax and Sam. Embraced ends on a cliffhanger, so be warned! I would recommend this story to fans of paranormal romances that feature characters struggling between good and evil. The characters are complex, and this story is a great twist on a familiar Biblical tale.
