In this digital prequel novella set in the Red Queen world, Captain Farley exchanges coded transmissions with the resistance as she travels the land recruiting black market traders, smugglers, and extremists for her first attempt at an attack on the capital. She was raised to be strong, but planting the seeds of rebellion in Norta is a tougher job than expected—until she stumbles upon a connection that may prove to be the key to the entire operation: Mare Barrow.
Why I’m Waiting
I hate reading unfinished series, because I’m impatient. The dreaded time between book releases always kills no matter how many other books I have that can entertain me. Author Victoria Aveyard must feel our pain, because Steel Scars is the second of Red Queen novellas to be released. Even though Glass Sword won’t be released until February 9th 2016, Steel Scars and Queen Song should not only satisfy fans, but keep our interest elevated.
Another prequel, Steel Scars will focus on a time before the events in Red Queen, but this time the story will be about Mare Barrow. Hopefully, this book will give us some insight on the Rebel’s interest in Mare, as well as more background on Captain Farley. Like all of the books, Steel Scars has a great cover, and will look good in any library collection. For those not interested in buying every little novella released, Aveyard is also releasing Cruel Crown, the paperback version which will contain both Queen Song and Steel Scars on the same day Steel Scars releases.
