2016 Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is “Ten Books I Recently Enjoyed That Weren’t My Typical Genre.” For this list I compiled books that pushed the boundaries of my normal reading habits. Some were close enough that I thought the risk was worth it, and others took me completely by surprise. In this list I have S&M flavored romances, fairy tale retellings, contemporary romance, and sports-themed romance stories.

As you can see, most of the books I picked are romance, a genre I hardly read before last year. Sure, I’d read the occasional romance, but I pretty much stayed away from the genre. Mostly due to falling into romance books in elementary school, and being scared away. Now I can appreciate the genre. Of course, there are sill times when I roll my eyes at the absurdity of some of the plots, but overall they’re just good fun. Plus, they’re a great way to spend a few hours with a quick read. So without further ado, here are my “Ten Books I Recently Enjoyed That Weren’t My Typical Genre.”

May I recommend “Vaginal Fantasy Book Club” on goodreads.com? They have some AWFUL picks but there’s been some good’ers. And then you can watch the gals get drunk on youtube/ google hangout while they discuss. 😉

  2. I like when my book have romance in them, but what you said is pretty much how I feel about books that are mainly romance too. I do roll my eyes, but sometimes they’re just a fun, light way to spend a few hours since they’re oftentimes also quick reads. I’ve seen Nuts around quite a bit and heard some great things!
