What is Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon? For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs, Twitters, Tumblrs, Goodreads and MORE about our reading, and visit other readers’ homes online. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. It happens twice a year, in April and in October.
To kick things off, here are some introductory questions that I’ve answered about my plans for today. Since this is my first read-a-thon, I’m not sure how closely I’ll end up following my intended reading list, but I hope to read for all 24 hours (minus breaks).
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m reading here in sunny southern California at my home. Currently, I’m sitting in bead, drinking coffee, and snuggled up with my kindle.
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to reading my mini stack of The Walking Dead comics that I downloaded to my iPad last year.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I haven’t picked up my snacks yet. I figured hitting the store would make for a nice break. Killing two birds with one stone 🙂
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m an avid reader (of course), who’s loved reading since I was two years-old. My favorite genre is YA, and in particular, dystopian YA fiction. I love the physical book, but I tend to buy more ebooks these days. Mostly because of the airline fees that began prohibiting me from packing large quantities of books when I travel. For the past 5 years (or so) I’ve learned to like and appreciate the easy of ebooks, but that doesn’t stop me from buying actual books. I’ve recently discovered the joys of audiobooks, but I don’t plan to listen to any this challenge.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I’m most looking forward to getting a lot of reading done. Especially a few ARCs I need to get read.
