WEEK IN REVIEW: “Under the Sea” (MAY 22nd – MAY 28th)

The Week in Review

I decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This week flew by it seems. I worried that these last weeks of school would drag, but it feels as if each week gets faster and faster. Having said that, not much happened this week. I worked, fell asleep too early, and hardly got any reading done. I’m not doing anything differently than what I normally do, and I’m invested in my books, so it’s not a reading slump. Oh, well! Hopefully I’ll finally get through Jane Eyre, as I don’t plan to travel this summer with physical books.

One thing that did happen, was on Friday was the 5th Grade Dance. The theme was “Under the Sea,” and the parents did a phenomenal job of decorating the auditorium. When the kids first arrived, they were all huddled in groups, or buying the food we were selling. However, once the teachers started dancing, everyone joined in. It was a fun-filled hour and a half, and everyone had a great time. What I loved, was that teachers from other grades came in to participate. The children loved seeing other teachers hanging out with them, and even the principal got in on the fun. I was so exhausted Friday night, that I crashed after my shower. But what else is new? LOL!

There’s only 8 more school days, 6 more until culmination, and I couldn’t be happier. This weekend I have a three-day weekend thanks to Memorial Day, and I plan to use it to finish report cards, and get some reading (finally) done. With only four days next week, I’m sure next week will fly by even faster. Plus, next Friday is the 5th Grade Luncheon, and we’re having a potluck. Then, the kids will get their autograph books, and get an opportunity to get each other’s signatures. With report cards done, I plan to clean up and out my room, so that everything is packed away before the culmination. Is it summer yet?

excited for… / watching…

While many are soaking in the rays with a good, sexy beach read, my summer obsession is FX’s Tyrant. The show is about a young middle eastern prince who flees to America to begin a new life. Years later, married with kids and a surgeon, the man returns home for his father’s funeral, and gets sucked back into the politics of the region. Though very political, this is a show about family. I enjoy watching how the doctor’s American wife and kids try to navigate the complicated waters of the Middle East. It’s a great, action-packed drama with lots of twists and turns, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Even though the show is about to begin its third season, it seems as if so much more than two seasons worth of story has happened, and I can’t wait to see what will happen next!

  1. My high school students had their last day on Friday; Tuesday and Wednesday we have exams, then Thursday is graduation mass, and Friday is graduation. Then I am FREE!!! The last couple of weeks always seem to drag on!! Hope you have an easy final week of school!

  2. I really enjoyed your two reviews this week! I haven’t bought them yet since I’m trying to decide if I should listen to them in audio or read them myself. Hope you have a great week!!

I’m a book person myself. I try to listen to audiobooks, but my attention span isn’t that great. Thanks for stopping by!

The dance was really fun. I only have four days this week, and our luncheon is on Friday. I think it’ll also be nice. Have a great week!

Hahaha! I think school back in the day was more fun for me. So many programs have been cut here, that school has become very dry and boring. I remember having such fun in school with gym, art, music. Kids these days don’t really get that 🙁 At least not very often, or consistently. Have a great week!

I hope this week flies by as well. I guess we’ll see! I was pleasantly surprised by the party’s turnout. It was better than we expected. I hope we do it again next year.

  3. OMG I do feel these last weeks of school are draaaaaaaging so I’m glad to hear they seem to go fast for you Tiffany 🙂 I can relate to falling asleep without reading 😉 though for me it’s looking like a reading slump. Glad it is not for you! 🙂 Oh I can imagine how pretty the “Under the Sea,” decorated auditorium looked like 🙂 CANNOT WAIT FOR SUMMER!!!

I’m so excited for summer, I can’t even stand it! UGH! Luckily, my students are pretty cool now, so I’m able to get a lot done during the day. I hope you get over your reading slump. I went through one that lasted a year once. LOL! Hopefully, yours won’t last that long 🙂 Have a good week!
