THE WEEKS IN REVIEW: “Let’s Get Physical!” (JUNE 10TH – JULY 16TH )

The Week in Review

I decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This week I started Nutrisystem. I’ve been thinking about it for a few months, and decided to take the plunge. Especially after all the physical problems I had traveling. My ankles and feet swelled up horrible from the plane, and my joints are killing me. Since diabetes runs in my family, I decided to lose some weight before that (if it hasn’t already) becomes an issue. It’s been good so far. I lot 4 lbs during my trip to Japan (their serving sizes are unbelievably small), and have lost 6 lbs this past week in the diet. The food isn’t the bad tasting, and now I’m used to eating way fewer calories. I hardly get hungry. Plus, the plan has me eating small meals 5-6 times a day, so how could I? Working out a bit during the week helps as well.

On Tuesday, I went to visit my friend Raquel, and we saw Central Intelligence. It was pretty funny, but could’ve been better. Still, it was nice to visit with her. We used to work together, but she resigned at the end of the school year. Now I’ll have a new room partner ;( Aside from Tuesday, I basically hung around the house, organized my bedroom, and watched Netflix. Two of the shows I got into were Syfy’s Dark Matter and a Netflix original series titled, The Between. I thought I had seen Dark Matter, and couldn’t get into it, but I was confusing it with The Expanse. The Between reminded me of a Gone rip-off. Maybe it’s because I just read the series, but it’s eerily familiar. However, I enjoyed season 1, and plan to watch season 2 this week.

Finally, my long-awaited Foxy Fix traveler’s notebook arrived on Saturday. As you probably already know, I’m into planners, and during my trip to Japan decided to move my bullet journal from my Moleskine notebook, and into a TN. The main reason behind this is because there were things in my Moleskine that I would still need after I finished using it, and I was more than half-finished with it. If you don’t know what a TN is, it’s a leather cover where you can insert individual notebooks. Now I can separate my stuff into different notebooks, and not lose the stuff I want to hand on for a while when I replace my weekly journal. Phew! Anywho, it came and I fell in love.

 book haul

This week I went a little crazy with my one-click addiction during Amazon’s Prime Day. I saw some interesting books for $1.99 that I couldn’t pass up. Especially books 2 & 3 in Z. A. Recht’s Morningstar Strain series. Sadly, it’s been 4 or 5 years since I read book 1, so a re-read is definitely in order before I can continue. I try to get out, but they keep sucking me back in!  *cue the 🎻*

I’ve seen Shadow Queen around, and heard good things so I had to get it when it was on sale for $1.99. Dark Matter is pretty good! I want to check out The Killjoys, but want to start with season 1. It’s not on Hulu or Netflix last time I checked 🙁

  1. I have always wanted to know someone doing nutrisystem so I could get a good review of it and it sounds like you are enjoying it. I am just not sure if I could afford to do it especially since my dad lives with me and that would mean cooking separate for him and buying that for me…eek. I hope you will post your progress as you keep going.

I was not that impressed with Central Intelligence but I am not into real dumb movies and that was dumb. I like the Rock but that was dumb…lol.

    Great book haul! 🙂

Have a great week and happy reading!

I’ve known people who’ve tried Nutrisystem in the past, and didn’t like the food. I think they made it better, though, because everything is pretty well seasoned and tastier than I expected. I will keep posting my progress. So far, it’s helping me stay within my grocery budget, but I could see it being expensive when you have to prepare food for other people.

Central Intelligence was pretty dumb. Though I enjoyed it, I can honestly say it wasn’t The Rock’s or Kevin Hart’s best film.

      Thanks for stopping by!

I’m loving my new traveler’s notebook! I find it suits my life better than a regular planner. Definitely worth every penny 🙂 I got motivated to lose weight when I saw myself in photos. I grew up pretty small, so being a larger adult has been hard for me. We’ll see how it goes! Thanks for the well wishes 🙂

  2. We started watching the second season of Dark Matter but we keep forgetting that it comes on each week now, so we’re going to have to play catch up again soon. And way to go on the weight loss!
I love the idea of a traveler’s journal, because I love notebooks…but I know I wouldn’t use it, and that’s kind of disappointing.
I hope you enjoy your new books and that you have a great week!

I stopped watching tv live last season so I could spend my evenings reading. Everything I watch now is OnDemand. I kind of do a thing where I watch 2-3 episodes a day of a different show in the morning. I’m behind everything! LOL! The downside, is I’m not active on social media a lot, because I don’t want to get spoiled. May work on something different when the new fall season starts.

The weight loss has been pretty good. I’ll keep everyone posted!

I’ve been a notebook person for years. What I’m not too good at is planning. Bah! Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, I was excited to see a lot of books I wanted on sale. Congrats on your weight loss! Have a great week 🙂
