The Week in Review

I decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This past week seemed to fly by, which was a good thing as I can’t wait to go back on vacation for the holiday. LOL! Much to my surprise by students bounced back to our schedule, and we had a nice week together with very few hiccups. Still, the early evenings continue to knock me out early, and wake up even earlier than my 4:30 AM alarm. On the bright side, that meant I was able to get some reading done in the mornings while I had my morning coffee. Besides, even though I didn’t get out of bed until 5:30AM, I still managed to get to work early enough to get everything I needed to done. Win-Win!

Aside from work, I finished up my holiday shopping by buying a soon-to-be-retired Outlander traveler’s notebook from Chic Sparrow’s Cyber Monday sale, and still await it’s arrival. I also did some knitting, and continued my Supernatural marathon on Netflix. I’m now on season 9, and it’s all new to me since I skipped that season. I hope to finish the series by the end of the year.

On Saturday, I woke up early as usual, and got some things done. After my doctor’s appointment, I baked cookies for the cookie exchange at my book club meeting. It was great hanging with the ladies as we discussed the book, Anybody’s Daughter, exchanged cookies, and sipped wine. Another highlight of my day was discovering a yarn shop near me. Now that I’ve decided to get back into needlework, I decided to check it out on the way to my meeting. I found inspiration in all the beautiful fibers and colors of the yarns, found a place where I could seek help on projects, and even picked up a few magazines. There’s so much I want to make, that I don’t even know where to get started!

  1. You read some great books in November. Oh my-The Handmaid’s Tale is so disturbing!!! Gah! That Book! I heard they are making it into a tv show or movie or something. That book is CRAZY! But, its Margaret Atwood, so disturbing is kind of the only thing she writes!
    Have a great week!

Oh, really? Now I’m definitely intrigued. I’ve never read anything by her before. Hope you’re enjoying your week!

  2. You found some awesome challenges to participate in. I wish I had time to do they all.

By the way, you gave The Girl on the Train better marks than I did. It got so much hype, but I didn’t care for much of it either.

I probably should have given GOtT lower marks TBH. I absolutely hated all the characters and wanted them all to die. I wanted to see the film, but once I finished the book I lost interest. Especially after people told me it was pretty much the same. As for challenges, I think next year I’ll only do one classics challenge. I want to read all the books I’ve bought and haven’t read yet.

  3. I really hate the time change and coming home when it’s dark. It makes it feel really late when it isn’t. I still haven’t adjusted so I stay up late reading but still make it to work on time lol. Your book club sounds like a lot of fun and I wish I had one close to me. I hope you have a great week!

OMG, Kathy! I’m so thrown off! I’m still falling asleep around 7-8 PM, and up at midnight. Usually I go back to sleep, but in all honestly I could wake up. Instead, I’ve been up around 3 or 4 AM, and read until 5:30AM. Strangely enough, I’m still getting to work early.

Internet shopping is everything! Now that I’m into it, there’s no going back. Thanks! I really am inspired now. I guess I never realized how much I missed knitting.

Oh, really? Wow, this book just keeps getting good recommendations. I may move it higher on my TBR list. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Your bookclub sounds great. I’ve never belonged to one and can’t quite imagine it.

I’m glad all is going well at school. It’s summer here and I’m waking early as the sun’s up before 4.30. I try to sleep in as long as possible but am finding I’m getting some blogging done before work each day which is good!

I love my book club! The ladies are very cool, and we always have loads of fun. Maybe one day you’ll find one you like. 4:30am is my usual wake-up time, because I relax before I go to work. LOL! Lately, though, I’ve been up earlier and getting my reading done. Glad you’re also being productive so early. I probably should blog instead of read, since I have 5 reviews backlogged 🙁

I’m really enjoying SPN. I watched it from day one, but began to fall asleep early during the school year so I’ve missed out on the last several seasons. It’s great discovering those unseen episodes. I hope you get a chance to knock out your shopping before it gets too crazy.
