I decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This past week was pretty eventful for me, and flew by pretty fast. Sunday I ordered myself an iPad Pro and Apple pencil. I already have a mini that’s a few years old, and wasn’t planning on upgrading, but when I saw how many art apps there were for the Pro I decided I had to get it. It arrived Tuesday, and I’ve been on it ever since. However, I’m still playing around with it, and am in love.

On Monday I went to the Wizarding World of Harry potter. It was so fantastic! I can’t believe how real everything looks, and the attention to detail is amazing. My friends and I drank butter beer, ate at the Three Broomsticks, and went to Ollivander’s to purchase our wands. Sadly they didn’t have the one chosen for my by Pottermore, but I got one that I love. Getting fitted was an experience I won’t ever forget.

On Tuesday it was back to work, and then I went to the orthodontist for my final treatment process before I get my braces removed. It doesn’t mean they’re coming off now, but they’re working on my overbite. I have to wear these thick rubber bands on my teeth, that makes me feel as if my jaw is wired shut. If I want to eat, I have to remove them, and them put them back on when I’m finished. Ugh!

Friday was the “Storm of the Century,” as I like to call it, here in Southern California. Luckily, the majority of the storm happened right at dismissal. As soon as my students were dismissed, I hopped in my car to get home before it grew worse. There were down power lines, and many street lights didn’t work. Because of all the pools of water, I decided to take the streets instead of the freeway, but I finally made it home safe and sound.

Saturday was a fun day with friends, as we enjoyed the first day of AMC’s Best Picture Showcase. This is an event I’ve done for the past five years, and always enjoy. Usually we do the 24-hour marathon, but I think we’ve decided those days are over. It’s just too difficult to recover from. So this year we’re doing the 2-day marathon. Yesterday we watched Manchester By the Sea, Fences, Hell or High Water, and La La Land. All of the films made me cry, and it didn’t end up the feel good day I expected, but more on that later this week. Overall, the week was pretty eventful, and I’ve been pretty successful following my 2017 goal of being out more with friends and family.

  1. Wow, it sounds as if you’ve had a really busy week!

I’m glad the storm missed you!

I have an overbite and wish I’d had it fixed when younger.

And I have Apple envy as both my (very old) iMac and Macbook Air need replacing. I’ll just buy the iMac I think cos my Macbook Air is still going strong but they’re both so old (at least 7yrs) that they no longer support any updates. I’m pretty sure the iMac will crash soon and then I’ll be in trouble.

I had it in my budget but have ended up blowing that money on a convention next weekend…. so I’ll have to work towards it again!

Hahaha! It’s funny how that happens. When I used to go to conventions, I’d blow my money, too. However the memories will be worth it in the end.
