Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I Loved More Than I Thought I Would

Posted February 21, 2017 by @Angelized_1st in Memes, Top Ten Tuesday / 9 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is about books that changed our opinions either for the positive or the negative. The books chosen below were often hyped by other readers to the point that I didn’t want to read them, because I never thought they could possibly live up to the hype surrounding them. So hyped, in fact, that I actually knew a bit about them before every deciding to check them out for myself. My will broke down for many different reasons. Maybe I was drawn to the cover, had a gift card, or was given a copy. Whatever the reason, the ten books below not only lived up to the hype (in my mind at least), but acquired me as one of the heralds to spread the word to others. If you’ve ever had a long conversation with me about books, you know this to be true as I’ve probably sang one of these novels praises to you. So without further ado, here are my “Ten Books I Loved More Than I Thought I Would.”

  1. I was one of the “hypers” for Red Rising as I read the ARC. I couldn’t believe how much I had loved it. I’ve read them all. I love the Throne of Glass series and was thrilled that this hyped series worked for me as well. Same with ready Player One. I’ve read all the HPs when they first came out because I am old. 🙂 I was in my twenties when they came out. I still love them.

I was grown when I read HP, too! Though I’d watched the films, I didn’t start reading the books until right before TOoTP came out in theaters.I still enjoy picking them up also. I’m planning to reread the Red Rising series before the new book is released. I’ve been wanting to ever since I completed it, since I loved it so much, but I never got around to it. Now, I have a valid excuse 🙂

  2. Only three on your list I have actually read and I agree I liked HP more than I thought I would but I didn’t make it through Red Rising as I stopped listening as I got bored and I actually enjoyed Throne of Glass though never went on with the series (I do that a lot and don’t know why…lol). Some on your list I have an interest in trying such as Half Bad and Ready Player One and Six of Crow.

You have plenty of time to read GOT. Especially since the new book STILL hasn’t been released 🙁 There’s supposed to be an American Gods series on HBO or Starz, but I don’t know when it’s coming out. It looked real good, though.
