I decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
The past two weeks of vacation have been filled with more relaxing and trying to read my books while getting other things done. I attended two professional developments to get ready for the new school year. They were boring, but I got paid for them, so… *shrugs*. Last Saturday, I went to my cousin’s pool party. They really did up their backyard nice, and I had a good time. While we were there, one of my cousins surprised us all by getting married. I guess it’s a good thing we have lots of ministers in the family.
This past week, I spent all day Monday in my new classroom setting it up. I still have a lot to do, so I’ll go in this coming week to finish. I also attended a funeral. This is the second family member who has passed this summer, and I hope it’s the last one. The service, though, was really nice and very uplifting. On Friday, I got my nails done, ran errands for school, and had dinner and a movie with my brother and his family. We saw Detroit, and it was really good but heavy. Saturday, I went to my monthly book club meeting. The July book-of-the-month was The Queen of the South. A pretty good read, but also a difficult one. Very different from the US version on USA. I hear the original telenovela is closer to the book, and have added it to my Netflix binge list.

What’s On Netflix
The past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to catch up on the tv I’ve missed while reading so much over the past year. Aside from watching old films I enjoy (TCM’s Alfred Hitchcock marathon), I’ve also caught up with The Killjoys, The Crown, and now am marathoning season 2 of Zoo. I’ve been enjoying all of these shows, and finally crossing some of them off my list.
At the Movies – Detroit
I went to see Detroit Friday night with my family. It’s a great story, excellent acting, and direction, but is very heavy. You may want to see it with someone and then have dinner or coffee to discuss it afterward.
