Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books That Surprised Me

Posted March 13, 2018 by @Angelized_1st in Memes, Top Ten Tuesday / 3 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

How it works:

I assign each Tuesday a topic and then post my top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join me and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

The books I’ve chosen for this list are books that I either didn’t expect to be as good as they turned out to be or over-hyped books I thought wouldn’t meet my expectations. I was wrong. Each of these books is memorable for the strong, well-developed characters, interesting plots, and surprising twists and turns the story took. Whatever the reason they captivated me, these ten books really surprised me and left me wanting to read more by their authors.

  1. Illuminae is on a lot of lists today. I think I might have to pick up a copy and read it. I was also genuinely surprised by Gone. I was not expecting much from it when I read it and actually ended up liking it. Not a favorite, but it was good.
