The Week in Review: May 17th – May 24th

Since I was fortunate enough to receive/purchase a lot of new books this past week, I decided to participate in a couple of memes. Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. This meme gives bloggers a chance to share with readers what we bought, borrowed, swapped, won or received for review each week. I also decided that I would do a weekly recap, since I had a really fun and exciting week. Because of this, I’ve decided to link up with The Sunday Post, hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Romantic Times Convention:

Jennifer L. Armentrout, Justin Edwards, and I at the 2015 Romantic Times Book Convention in Dallas, TX

Last weekend I attended the Romantic Times Book Convention. I had won the chance to attend thanks to the “Love Will Conquer All” Sweepstakes I entered when I purchased Richelle Mead’s The Ruby Circle this winter. I arrived Friday night, and had a ticket to Teen Day. This allowed me to attend the Giant Book fair where I met many authors like Marie Lu, Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Ann Aguirre, and Lauren Oliver. I bought some books that I’ve been wanting to read for a while, and got them autographed.

Afterwards I attended the Teen Day Pizza Party hosted by Epic Reads and Penguin Teen. I got the chance to meet some nice people, and a free lunch 😉 Sadly, I wasn’t one of the first 100 to enter, so I missed out on the swag bag that had a lot of good books in them. However, my earlier experience at the book fair kept me from being sad.

Then I got the opportunity to spend time with Richelle Mead. It was really cool meeting one of my favorite authors, and I was a bit nervous. She was really nice, and we have a lot in common. She was also kind enough to give me an autographed copy of The Ruby Circle to add to my collection.

Finally, I attended the Teen Day Party, also hosted by Epic Reads and Penguin Teen. While there we got to play trivia games with the authors, received a swag bag full of books in a nice collectible tote bag. And of course, we had a nice dinner. I spend so much time taking books with fellow attendees, that I never got around to getting my books signed by the authors in attendance. Oh, well! I ended the trip with 14 physical books (6 autographed) and 2 ebooks. None too shabby!

On the Blog:

Well, that’s all folks! This past week has been pretty hectic, and a lot of great fun. Thanks to Penguin Teen for the opportunity to meet Richelle Mead and attend the Romantic Times Convention! I can’t wait to read all my new books! Now that school is about almost out for the summer, I’ll have a lot of time on my hands to get through them. I hope!

It was so much fun! If you can go, I highly recommend it. They give away so many great books. I was so shocked. I assumed they’d only hand out freebies of books that were underperforming, or something. Hope you make it! Thanks, I will enjoy them. I’ve been wanting to read the majority of them for a long time 😉
