The heart-stopping finale to the New York Times bestselling 5th Wave series, just in time for the major motion picture release We’re here, then we’re gone, and that was true before they came. That’s always been true. The Others didn’t invent death; they just perfected it. Gave death a face to put back in our face, because they knew that was the only way to crush us. It won’t end on any continent or ocean, no mountain or plain, jungle or desert. It will end where it began, where it had been from the beginning, on the battlefield of the last beating human heart. Master storyteller Rick Yancey invokes triumph, loss, and unrelenting action as the fate of the planet is decided in the conclusion to this epic series.
Why I’m Waiting
This week I decided to pick the finale to one of the best series I’ve read this year, Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave. Rick Yancey’s vision of a world post-invasion where humans fight for survival of their species on Earth is gripping. His post-apocalyptic world is bleak, yet the characters have decided not to give up their planet so easily. In a world populated mostly with children, the characters had to grow up quickly, and it’s interesting watching them try to make adult decisions under terrifying circumstances. On the opposing side of this battle are the aliens. Some of them have been implanted in human bodies, and have become “infected” with humanity. These characters put a human face on the aliens and give them sympathy. Overall, the series is an action-packed thrill ride of a book, and the third and final (?) book is sure to be as hard to put down as the previous two.
