He'll guard her body all night long.

Former Marine Jude Wilde's motto has always been "burn bridges and never look back," so nobody is more surprised when Wilde Security is hired to protect assistant district attorney Libby Pruitt, the woman he loved and left. Although she makes it clear she wants nothing to do with Jude, they're forced to fake a relationship for her safety. He can't ignore the heat still simmering between them, and when her stalker's threats escalate to attempted murder, he's left with no choice but to whisk her away to a friend's safe house in Key West, FL.

Cooped up in paradise together, Jude begins to chip away at Libby's resolve to hate him. But even as she gives in to his proximity and her body's demands for his, she refuses to fall for his charms again. Maybe a torrid affair in the sun is exactly what she needs to get him out of her system. But when her stalker tracks them down, can they escape the steamy Key West night without anyone getting hurt?

“I knew you only saw part of me, the part I projected, but I was okay with that. I’m used to being that man and could have kept on being him for you. I’ve been playing the part most of my life”

After reading Running Wilde, the fourth book in Tonya Burrows’ Wilde Security series, I decided to go back to the beginning. Th first book in the series, Wilde Nights in Paradise centers on the youngest Wilde brother. A former Marine, Jude has always been the love ’em and leave ’em kind of guy. Until his ex-love, Libby Pruitt, ends up in desperate need for help. As one of Washington, DC’s Assistant District Attorneys, Libby has made some enemies, and one has been sending her threatening messages and “gifts.” Enter Jude. Hired by her father, his former Colonel, Jude must pretend to be Libby’s boyfriend while they go into hiding.

I really loved Jude and Libby’s backstory. Jude broke her heart eight years ago, and their current situation has put them in an awkward situation. Since they have history, their romance never felt like insta-love. Instead, I was able to buy them as a couple right off the bat. I really loved Libby’s character. She was such a strong, smart woman, and I completely understood why she felt the way she did about her past with Jude. Jude, on the other hand, grew on me over the course of the novel.

As the youngest Wilde brother, Jude is the prankster who always stirs up trouble. I found him somewhat childish, but as the story progress and I learned more about his background, I began to understand Jude’s motivations. His complexity intrigued me, and I can’t wait to see how his relationship with Libby develops in the background of his brothers’ novels.

One of the things I loved most about this book, and what kept me the most invested was the mystery of Libby’s stalker. This is the third novel I’ve read by Tonya Burrows, and I love how each of her books is really suspenseful, and keeps you guessing from beginning to end. While I love the romance aspect as well, I think it’s the suspense aspect that keeps me so invested. The novels are very cinematic in their writing, and it’s easy to visualize the action scenes Burrows writes. Even though I read the fourth book first, I would recommend that readers start with the first novel, Wilde Nights in Paradise.

Former homicide detective Camden Wilde has been in love with his ex-partner, Eva Cardoso, for longer than he cares to admit. Not that it matters. She's shoved him into the friend zone, and after living through the hell of his parents' violent deaths, Cam's unable to give her the idyllic life she secretly desires.

Eva's never met a person who hasn't let her down. Cam may be sex personified, but he's the only man she can trust, and there's no way she'll risk their friendship on the off-chance they could be more. Especially not after the one scintillating night she's trying-and failing-to forget. When a murder-for-hire contract on his head lands Eva on his doorstep, Cam knows it's time to put up or shut up. He's done biding his time, and he'll be damned if he lets the delectable detective ignore what's between them, no matter the cost.

Another steamy entry in Tonya Burrows’ Wilde Security series. In the second novel, Jude’s brother Camden must decide to confront his feelings for his ex-partner and best friend, Eva, after a steamy night together. Both Cam and Eva have had traumatic childhoods, but have reacted to them differently. Eva’s desire for the stereotypical “perfect” family has led her into the arms of dubious guys, and the last one has made her want to give up on her happily ever after. Cam, on the other hand, has decided to run from the “perfect” life he and his brothers once had before they tragically lost their parents. Now that they’ve crossed a line, their secret desires for each other can no longer go ignored.

I really loved Camden! It also helps that he’s Vaughn’s twin brother, and since I read Vaughn’s book first, it’s kind of a given I’d love Cam. However, though they are identical, their similarities stop at their physical appearance. Where Vaughn is tough and gruff, Cam is caring and responsible. Eva is also pretty great. She’s one tough cookie that can give Cam a run for his money, and his perfect match. These two are perfect for each other, and the fact they’ve known each other for years made their romance inevitable. However, if anything bothered me about them, it was Eva’s constant indecision about Cam throughout the book. Like Wilde Nights in Paradise, Wilde for Her is pretty steamy. Yet, the romance never detracts from Burrows’ suspenseful storytelling. Cam’s life was in danger, which wasn’t a detail easily forgotten once the sparks began to fly between these two.

Another aspect I loved was how much the other Wilde men factored into the story. Readers get to know more about Greer, Reece, and Vaughn, which can’t help but make them more invested in their books once they come out. Burrows’ does a great job of setting up Reece and Vaughn’s romances for further novels, and Greer’s story is starting to become really intriguing. I can’t wait to read more of this exciting series!

About Tonya Burrows

Tonya Burrows wrote her first romance in 8th grade and hasn’t put down her pen since. Originally from a small town in Western New York, she suffers from a bad case of wanderlust and usually ends up moving someplace new every few years. Luckily, her two dogs and ginormous cat are excellent travel buddies.

When she’s not writing about hunky military heroes, Tonya can usually be found at a bookstore or the dog park. She also enjoys painting, watching movies, and her daily barre workouts. A geek at heart, she pledges her TV fandom to Supernatural and Dr. Who.
