The Week in Review

I decided that I would do a weekly recap, and link up with The Sunday Post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer, that was inspired in part by In My Mailbox. It’s a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. This past week was yet another week that I suffered from low energy. Normally I’m not too bummed about it, but Morning Star was released on Tuesday, and I wanted to devour it. Sadly, it took me longer than I anticipated since I kept passing out asleep. On the bright side, I got to savor the book more than I otherwise might have. In a few words: It was fantastic! I’m still processing, but hope to get my review written soon.

Work was just blah, but I had a really nice Friday celebrating Valentine’s Day with my students. Several of them got me some really nice gifts. Not only did I have a nice Friday at work, but as I left it was to enjoy my three-day weekend. Yahoo! I ended the day by going to see Deadpool with my cousin. It was everything I hoped for and more. Though I was weirded out by the number of children dropped off at the movies to see it. Maybe the parents don’t care about all of the nudity, profanity, sex, and violence, but I choose to think they’re just ignorant of the film’s content. Must not have read the comics. Any who, two thumbs up!

Saturday I got my hair done, and feel human despite the cold I’m coming down with. It feels so nice to have it all trimmed up 🙂 Afterwards, I decided to get another piercing, and wound up getting two. Oops! I got my tragus pierced, and my lower conch. They’re both on the same ear, so healing them up should be simple. *fingers crossed*. Aside from that, my only other highlight was picking up Crimson Peak and Spectre. Both were very good films, and kept me company while I convalesced.

  1. I LOVED Deadpool! I don’t know a lot about Deadpool except for the jokes and some vulgarity BUT MY GOODNESS, this is not family friendly at all! I was totally thrown off haha I don’t mind but I just hope parents realize that it’s not just a Marvel superhero movie haha

I’ve read the a few of the comics back in the day when I was obsessed with the X-Men, so I knew what to expect. Which is the main reason I wanted to go see it. I loved every minute of it, but became uncomfortable at the kids sitting in front of me. Eck! They sure got an eye full.

Morning Star was everything and more! I want to read the series over again, because I don’t want to let them go just yet 🙁 Sadly, I don’t really have the time to. Glad I’m not the only one complaining about the number of kids at the film. With all the nudity, I kind of felt pervy with them there. Hahahaha! Oh, well! At least I’m not the one having to explain away the uncomfortable scenes. I hope you get to see it. I can’t wait to see what you think about it.

Pretty good weekend, I have to confess. Especially considering TWD returns tonight. I’m so excited! Thanks for stopping by!

No ARC for me. I wasn’t that lucky. It came out Tuesday. I pre-ordered it on iBooks, so I got it on Monday night. I hope you get a chance to start it. It’s so freakin’ good!

  2. I’m surprised too about kids at Deadpool- I don’t know much about him (even though I’m a comic fan) but I do know the movie has stuff in it. The parents must not be paying attention. Glad to hear it was good!

I don’t know about you but February as a whole makes me low energy because I’m sick of winter by now. 🙂 So ready for spring… hope you have a nice week.

Dead pool is hilarious, but he’s definitely for adults. Yeah, he’s a superhero in terms of special abilities, but he’s more of an assassin than an actual hero. Plus, he’s a freak in every sense of the word. The sex scenes alone should have kept kids out the theater. Not to mention the full-frontal nudity. Oh, well! I guess that’s what happens when you don’t investigate what your kids watch.

February has been pretty mild here. I don’t know why I’m so blah. I have a lot of great stuff happening for me this year, so I need to get my butt in gear. I think it’s work-related stress. I hope you get over the low energy soon. Spring will he here before you know it!

  3. Isn’t getting your hair cut one of the best feelings ever? I always feel so much better after getting my hair trimmed (I often leave it until it is an unruly mess lol)

Everyone seems to be talking about Morning Star. I’ve not started the series yet, forever behind on all the popular things!

OMG, you have to read it! I still think Red Rising is the best out of the trilogy, but Morning Star was a close second. Now that the series is complete, it’s the best time to read it, because you won’t have to wait for the next release 🙂
