2016 Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a fall tv themed Top Ten. Since I’ve scaled back my tv habits a bit, I decided to come up with a list of television shows I’m most happy to see this Fall. Some are returning favorites, while others are new shows that have piqued my interest. Are any of these on your list? If so, which ones are you most excited about? Sound off below!

Returning Shows

1.) American Horror Story (Season 6) – Premieres on FX Network on 9/14 @ 10pm

This show always has the best trailers. Sometimes they end up better than the actual season if you ask me, but I never cease to be interested in this returning anthology show. What the theme is this season remains to be seen, but I’m waiting the reveal with bated breath.

2.) The Walking Dead – Premieres 10/2 on AMC @ 9pm

Another favorite, The Walking Dead is always on my Must-See TV list. After last season’s cliffhanger, I’m both anticipating and dreading the premiere. Will one of my favorites bite the big one? I guess I’ll have to wait until next month to find out.

3.) The Flash – Premieres on the CW on 10/4 @ 8pm

Who knew when this show started it would become one of my favorites? In fact, I find myself more invested in the CW’s The Flash than I do the show it spun-off from, Arrow. Somehow, this superhero series manages to stay interesting no matter where Barry winds up, and who he winds up fighting.

4.) Gotham – Premieres on FOX on 9/19 @ 8pm

Another comic series made my list. Gotham is gritty just like the Batman comics. Even though it’s an origin story of how Bruce Wayne evolved into The Bat, viewers also get to know his rogues gallery a bit better as well. Instead of the caricatures the films can often make the villains seem, Gotham turns them into the multi-dimensional characters they’re meant to be.

5.) How to Get Away With Murder – Premieres on ABC 9/22 @ 10pm

It took me a while to get into this show. While I was intrigued by the first season, it wasn’t until the second that I became really hooked. Now HTGAWM is one of my top tv shows, and I can’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans Alise and Co. get into.

6.) Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Premieres on ABC 9/20 @ 10pm

I didn’t get into SHIELD until I marathoned season 1, and saw how beautifully Marvel Studios wove the storylines into the films, and vice versa. Now, I can’t imagine watching anything Marvel without watching this series in conjunction. Great storylines, special FX, and actors, you can’t go wrong with this series.

7.) Scream Queens – Premieres on FOX 9/20 @ 9pm

This horror spoof series is so over the top, it can’t help but be one of my favorite shows last Fall. If you love horror films, or just love ragging on them, then this show is for you. Not only does it feature a great cast, but there are always famous faces popping up ready to be sliced and diced. Who can forget Nick Jonas as a murdering frat boy, or Ariana Grande as a shallow sorority girl?

New Shows

1.) Designated Survivor – Premieres on ABC 9/21 @ 10pm

Kiefer Sutherland fighting terrorists. ‘Nuff said.

2.) The Exorcist – Premieres on FOX 9/23 @ 9pm

I’m not so sure about this one, but I do plan to check it out. The fact it’s on FOX on Friday evenings screams of cancellation if you ask me, but maybe they’ve changed their programming tune. Once upon a time a show called The X-Files aired on Friday nights, and look what happened with that?

3.) Luke Cage – Premieres on Netflix 9/30

Marvel continues to expand their universe by spinning-off Luke Cage from Jessica Jones. Can’t wait to see Luke kick some ass, and hopefully we’ll see some guest appearances from other Marvel franchises besides Rosario Dawson.

4.) Quarry – Premieres on Cinemax 9/9 @ 10pm

Not sure about this one, but I think it’s worth checking out. The trailer has me intrigued, and the synopsis reads very interesting.

OMG, yes! That’s partly why I’ve basically stopped watching tv live. I want to see so many shows that I’d never have time to read. LOL! Netflix knew what they were talking about by providing the entire season of a series at one time. Binge watching is the way to go!
